Stop giving away your time and attention.
Seriously, though. Just stop it.
Life is too precious to be throwing away your most valuable resources like cheap beads at Mardi Gras.
- The recruiter who turned you down for a job
- The love interest who ghosted you
- Some dude who cut you off in traffic
Stop letting these people live rent-free in your head.
And while you’re evicting your mental squatters, how about giving the Voice of Self-Doubt the boot, too?
Because here’s the thing: Obsessing about the things other people do and think is just making you miserable. Listening to the Voice of Self-Doubt is just making you miserable.
So don’t do it.
You only have so much time and so much attention, so why are you giving them to things that are not worthy?
Do this instead…
Give your time and attention to the things that serve you and will help you level up your life. Give them to your partner, your kids, your friends, and yourself.
Rather than beating yourself up about not getting that job, figure out what you could do better next time and focus on the next opportunity.
Rather than lamenting a lost love, appreciate the time you spent together (if it was a good relationship) and focus on moving forward.
There’s always something to learn and some way to grow from an experience, so give your time and attention to those things.
At the end of it all, does anyone want to look back and say, “Wow, I was great at holding a grudge and brooding!”
Of course not.
So, tell me… What undeserving things are you giving your time and attention to? What worthy things could you be giving your time and attention to instead?
